  • The farmhouse Ardene is made up of two farmhouses set in the midst of olive groves and fruit trees which are typical of the Tuscan landscape. It has a wide outdoor space (about 1,500 meters) and garden with a great variety of local herbs and plants and a barbecue area. One of the buildings, which can sleep 8/10 people, has a large living room with fireplace and can be used either as a single room or as a free standing house. The antique well has been totally restored; the wood burning oven is still used to make our saltless Tuscan bread, cakes and biscuits which are served for breakfast or during the tasting evenings. The estate produces its own extra virgin olive oil, which thanks to the high quality process we still follow, is highly recommended in the Mediterranean diet. The bio-vegetable garden and the local animals (sheeps, chickens, rabbits, porks) complete the offer of healthy local products.

The swimming-pool (6x12) is opened from June 10th.
  • Agriturismo Ardene lies between the Valdorcia and the Valdichiana, well-known sites since the Roman age for the production of extra virgin olive oil, wine and wheat. A stay here means combining relax, wellness, sightseeing to the many Renaissance and medieval towns, churches, museums and untouched landscape. Food and wine have always played a crucial role in our tradition (extra virgin olive oil, the famous red wines such as "Chianti", "Nobile di Montepulciano", "Brunello di Montalcino", t-bone "chianina" steak and pecorino cheese). We are ideally located for local excursions and pilgrimages; in a day trip you can visit San Gimignano, Pisa, Orvieto, Todi, Assisi, the outsanding abbeys of San Galgano, Sant'Antimo and Monte Oliveto Maggiore. This area of the Val d'Orcia has been able to maintain its historical-linguistic identity and villages like Pienza, Radicofani, Monticchiello and the numerous hot springs are clear signs of these antique traditions. The valley with its unique clay hills (the "crete senesi"), created by natural erosion by water and winds, is just perfect for hiking, horseback riding and bike rides among the sweet rolling hills, vineyards, olive groves, woods and wheat fields.
  • Agriturismo Ardene is located in Montepulciano, Via di Valardegna n. 7. At the fork at the entrance of the village (coming from Chianciano Terme) turn right and just across the gas station turn right again, taking the dirt road marked by the sign "Agriturismo Ardene" and continuing for about 500 mt. By train: Milan-Rome line. Nearest station: Chiusi-Chianciano Terme By car: A1 highway - exit at "Valdichiana" if coming from Florence or at "Chiusi-Chianciano Terme" if coming from Rome. In both cases follow the signs to Montepulciano. By plane. Florence.(1 hour and a half) - Pisa (2 hours and 20 min.) - Rome (2 hours) The surroundings: Pienza and the Val d'Orcia are just a stroll; Chianciano Terme, Montefollonico, Monticchiello, Montalcino, Cortona, Chiusi, Monte Oliveto are in a range of 10/20 km. Within an hour drive one can reach Florence, Siena, Arezzo, Perugia, Assisi.

Descrizione

Accommodation only 900 mt. from the historical town of Montepulciano, has been very recently restored and opened to guests. It lies in the heart of Tuscany, near Siena, San Gimignano, Perugia, Pienza and Monticchiello, not far from Montalcino and San Galgano. "Ardene" provides highy quality services in a truly magical atmosphere. The structure has been totally renovated keeping the original hand worked stone of the 17th century. The suites and self-catering apartments are equipped with all modern amenities (Jacuzzi, air conditioning, satellite TV, Internet connection).
The swimming-pool (6x12) is opened from June,10th 2007.
Each bathroom is made with elegant and precious details (natural stones and mosaics, i mosaici the Bisazza gems , 'greche' made by local craftsmen, , hand-made lights from Murano, all unique pieces).  The furniture is almost totally original of the 18th century, the doors in chestnut wood are real masterpieces and in every suite/apartment there's an open fireplace made with local stone and wood worked by local artists.
