La Cerbaiola is located in a peaceful area, about 4 km from the medieval hamlet of Montecastelli Pisano, close to the town of Castelnuovo Val di Cecina and located in the Province of Pisa.
The lovely medieval hamlet, with its tastefully-decorated, rustic apartments and its large swimming pool (16 x 8 metres) is located at an altitude of 500 metres a.s.l. and is framed by a picturesque landscape, a composition made up of verdant valleys alternating with softly sloping hills. While the buildings and apartments in the hamlet have maintained the characteristics of the centuries-old Tuscan buildings that they are, they have been carefully renovated inside and out to provide maximum comfort.

The city of Volterra has transformed itself numerous times over the centuries, first when it fell into the hands of the ancient Romans, who continue to leave their mark even today with the ruins of the Roman Theatre built in the Imperial Age, and later, after the fall of the Roman Empire, with the construction of Romanesque masterpieces such as the city Cathedral, and then with the fall of feudalism, the city took on the appearance that remains practically unvaried to this day.
As testimony to this important historical period, Volterra is a maze of suggestive streets and squares: the impressive Piazza dei Priori, the city’s main square, the hidden courtyards, lanes and towers, tangible reminders of the great rivalries that existed between Volterra and its powerful ally, the town of Pisa, and its nearby foe, the city of San Gimignano, bastion of the great city of Florence.
On one side, the Rocca Sillano, a Medici fortress built in the 12th century, and on the other side the horizon is pierced by the towers and rooftops of Casole d’Elsa, a medieval town built with local bricks and stones.
